RMR Funds Appoint Jeffrey P. Somers as an Independent Trustee

NEWTON, Mass., Feb 03, 2009 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- RMR Funds today announced that Jeffrey P. Somers was today appointed as an Independent Trustee to fill vacancies on the Boards of Trustees of the following Funds:

RMR Real Estate Fund (NYSE Alternext US: RMR);

RMR Real Estate and Hospitality Fund (NYSE Alternext US: RHR);

RMR F.I.R.E. Fund (NYSE Alternext US: RFR);

RMR Preferred Dividend Fund (NYSE Alternext US: RDR);

RMR Dividend Capture Fund (NYSE Alternext US: RCR);

RMR Asia Pacific Real Estate Fund (NYSE Alternext US: RAP); and

RMR Asia Real Estate Fund (NYSE Alternext US: RAF).

Mr. Somers (age 65) has been a partner of the law firm of Morse, Barnes-Brown & Pendleton, PC of Waltham, MA since 1995, and prior thereto he was in private law practice as a partner with the law firm of Gadsby & Hannah LLP (now McCarter & English, LLP) of Boston, MA, during which time he also served as Chairman of the Securities Law Committee of the Business Law Section of the Boston Bar Association. Prior to entering private law practice, Mr. Somers was a staff attorney at the Securities and Exchange Commission in Washington, D.C.

From 1995 to 2001, Mr. Somers served as a Trustee of Pictet Funds (f/k/a Panorama Trust), a suite of SEC registered open ended mutual funds managed by Pictet International Management Limited of London, England, an affiliate of Pictet & Cie., Geneva, Switzerland. He is also active in various civic organizations in the Boston area.

Mr. Somers will serve as a Trustee of the Funds until the terms to which he is appointed expire at the 2009 annual meetings of the Funds' shareholders, at which time he is expected to stand for election by shareholders. Mr. Somers has also been appointed to the Audit, Compensation and Nominating Committees of the Boards of Trustees of the Funds.

The Funds' Boards of Trustees vacancies which Mr. Somers will fill were created when Frank J. Bailey resigned effective January 30, 2009, in order to accept appointment as a United States Bankruptcy Judge for the District of Massachusetts.
